IIT Madras develops Portable Structure MediCAB for treatment of COVID-19 patients


New Delhi :

IIT Madras collaborated with The department of science and technology (DST) which has discovered an approach to detect, manage and treat COVID-19 patients in local communities through portable microstructures. This portable micro structure is named as ”MediCAB” This has been done under the Modulus Housing, Start-up of IIT Madras. Composed of 4 zones – doctor’s room, isolation room, medical room/ward, & twin-bed ICU, MediCAB can be transported & installed in any location.

Solution using a decentralised approach –
Union Minister wrote on his official twitter handle, “Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences & Technology, under DST in collaboration with ”Modulus Housing” – a start-up incubated by IIT Madras – has come up with a solution using a decentralized approach to detect, manage & treat COVID-19 patients in local communities through portable microstructures.”

Composed of four zones –
The MediCAB is foldable and is composed of four zones: a doctor’s room, an isolation room, a medical room/ward and a twin-bed ICU, maintained at negative pressure. It aims to decentralize the approach to detect, screen, identify, isolate and treat COVID-19 patients in their local communities through these portable microstructures.

IIT Mandi Students to be allowed to work with HP Police for ‘tech help’.


New Delhi :

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi will now be providing tech help to Himachal Pradesh Police in solving IT cases. IIT Mandi has signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with HP Police to set up an institutional mechanism to interact between the two organizations for five years.

CM Said that –
Chief minister Jai Ram Thakur said, the MoU will help police personnel update their knowledge about new technologies, geographical and temporal analysis of crime and public order, prediction of crime trends, traffic management, e-challaning, beat patrolling system, threat and security analysis, cybercrime, cyber forensics and cyber security. Jai Ram was present in the MoU signing event. He further added that the collaboration would be based on research and development activities and capacity building which would involve police officers, IIT faculty, researchers and students. The CM added that under the agreement, IIT students will be taught about police functioning and will also be offered internships with state police units.

Mutually beneficial research and analysis programmes –
Through this IIT Mandi MoU, IIT Mandi and HP Police will connect the faculty, researchers and students with the police officials. The partnership through IIT Mandi MoU aims to undertake mutually beneficial research and analysis programmes and to conduct training and capacity building programmes.
