IIM Kashipur Startup develops device that can help monitor quality and quantity of food in real time

Indian Institute of Management Kashipur (IIM Kashipur) incubated Startup has developed a smart device that can help monitor real time quality and quantity of food and agriculture. This would help farmers to directly sell their products to the buyers.

Help in monitoring the quality of food –
This Artificial Intelligence (AI) and internet of things (IoT) based device which could help in real-time monitoring of the quality and quantity of food and agriculture products. The device developed could largely help in monitoring the quality of food being offered to children in schools under the mid-day meal programme in the country.

The device has launched in March this year –
It could also potentially help the farmers in selling their produce directly to the buyers by enabling the buyers to assess the quality of the produce from any corner of the state. The device has been found by Ankur Jain and Punit Gulhati. Ankur Jain, founder and CEO of the startup named Udyog Yantra said, “The device was developed in about one and a half years before it was launched in March this year.”

Produce on the basis of quality –
Startup co-founder Puneet Gulati, said the device would also be very helpful in farmers selling their produce anywhere in the world. “Usually, there are middlemen in between the farmers and the buyers. But if the farmer wants to sell his produce on the basis of quality claims, this device will enable him to contact the potential buyer sitting anywhere. The buyer will be able to evaluate the quality and quantity of the produce and match it with farmers claims,” said Gulati.

Education Minister Tweeted –
“A startup incubated at @IIMKsp has developed a smart device that can help in real-time monitoring of agriculture & food products. Founded by Ankur Jain and Puneet Gulati, the product will help farmers in selling their produce directly to the buyers.”, said Education Minister, Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank’ on this great innovation for farmers. This is somewhere fulfilling the aspects of Aatmanirbhar Bharat Mission making India independent and making India’s individual as independent for everythings.

IISER Kolkata sets up incubation centre for science and technology startup

Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Kolkata has set up an incubation centre to promote entrepreneurship and startup culture in the East and Northeastern regions of India.

Spread awareness about the importance of entrepreneurship –
Supported by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), the Research Innovation and Scientific Entrepreneurship (RISE) centre will provide management training, offer business consultations and assistance for business planning, along with hand-holding the young entrepreneurs in setting up their companies. To spread awareness about the importance of entrepreneurship, the centre will organise short-term workshops, facilitating interactions between industries and academia.

Several opportunities and local technologies –
“In the Northeast, knowledge and exposure to start-ups has remained limited. But there are several opportunities and local technologies, especially in the agriculture sector, that we hope to offer indigenous marketing opportunities,” said Ayan Banerjee from the Department of Physical Sciences and one of the directors of RISE.

The authorities of RISE plan to collaborate –
He further added, The institute had registered a company under Section 8 of the Companies Act in 2018, as a precursor to the incubation centre. Being amongst a host of institutes of national repute — National Centre for Genomics, AIIMS and Bidhan Chandra Krishi ViswaVidyalaya — the authorities of RISE plan to collaborate and lay a strong foundation for the start-up culture in the region.
