New Delhi : The Corona epidemic has not only damaged the economy of the country, but has severely ruined the economy of the houses at its worst.
The situation is this that parents are feeling unable to collect their children’s fees.Due to Corona epidemic, the order of livelihood of the people has been broken, due to which their basic needs are also not being met. In such a situation, the parents requested the UGC to waive or reduce the fees. In view of the circumstances, the UGC accepted parents request and assured to do something.
Moving forward to this In a letter UGC asked to all universities and higher educational institutions
vice-chancellors and college principals, stakeholders to consider an alternative method for the payment of fee by students. The commission also asked the institutes to consider any individual requests made by students.
Seeing the ongoing crisis, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has requested institutes for providing certain relaxation to students in the payment of fee. Many families had sought interference from the commission for a solution as most of the families are not getting regular income amid the covid-19 crisis.
The request was made by the commission after it received multiple grievances from students and parents regarding their inability for fee payment and problem.
“We have received grievances from the students and parents stating that universities and colleges are insisting upon immediate payment of annual/semester tuition fee, examination fee, etc. They have represented that due to the financial hardship being faced amid the lockdown, they are not in a position to make payment of fee,” read the letter.
“It is requested, that in view of the prevailing extraordinary difficult circumstances, universities and colleges may consider the matter regarding payment of annual/semester fee, tuition fee, examination fee, etc. sympathetically and if feasible, may consider offering alternative payment options to students till the situation returns to normal.
