IIT Roopar develops 360-degree room disinfection device

New Delhi :

IIT Roopar in collaboration with private company Momentum India Private Limited has developed a room disinfection device. The indigenous device harnesses the germicidal effects of ultraviolet (UV-C) radiations to inactivate viruses and bacteria. The device ensures 360-degree disinfection through its prismatic body and foldable wings.

Designed at IIT Ropar –
The specially-designed wings provide focused exposure to the most frequently touched surfaces such as door knobs, table tops, cupboards, room fixtures, wall corners, work tops, artifacts, furniture tops. The device has been conceptualised and designed at IIT Ropar by Khushboo Rakha, Assistant Professor, Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering and Naresh Rakha, Senior Scientific Officer with technical support from Shahriar Reza (Design Consultant), said the release.

Multiple safety features –
The device boasts of multiple safety features like remote control to enable its operator to stay at a safe distance, infrared motion sensors to automatically switch off the ultraviolet lamps on movement detection and emergency stop switch to shut down the device in emergency situations, stated the press release issued by IIT, Roopar.

IIT Guwahati launched Mobile Application for Contactless Air Travel

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati students have launched Flyzy, a mobile application that provides contactless, seamless travel experience to airplane passengers amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to IIT students, Flyzy App is one of its kind mobile-based contactless software technology. This in-house developed mobile-based software will strengthen the aviation industry, making it future-ready to fight against diseases like COVID-19.

Chief Executive Officer of NHA –
While launching the Flyzy App on Friday, Dr Indu Bhushan, Chief Executive Officer of National Health Authority (NHA) said: “Flyzy app is capable of bringing back the pre-COVID like travel where people can move around safely and stress-free without putting their lives in danger. I wish the Flyzy team of enterprising youngsters success in bringing about a positive change in the aviation business.”

App is currently available on Play Store –
“Flyzy App is just a tip of the iceberg. In the future, Flyzy will be developing various in-house aviation technologies that are entirely Made in India, which will not only make Indian Aviation Self-Reliant but also make India the global provider of world-class aviation technology. The Beta version of the Flyzy App is currently available on Play Store for Android and soon will be available on Apple App Store for iOS,” said Deepak Meena, CEO of Flyzy adding that they believe safe travel is not a luxury; it’s the need of the hour.
